Priti NYC: re-think your nail polish

As someone who changes nail polish about twice a week, I generally don't care to know what's in those little bottles. Yeah it smells bad, but you get used to it after a while. Unfortunately the ingredients in those bottles are not so good for your health. Priti NYC is a nail polish line that was founded by former model, Kim D'Amato, after she realized during pregnancy that many of the beauty rituals we practice are not good for our bodies or the environment. This polish line is free of 3 known carcinogens that we frequently see in nail lacquer: toluene, DBP, and formaldehyde. Being free of these ingredients is good for all, but especially those who are pregnant. But being free of standard ingredients doesn't mean compromising. These polishes are just as long-wearing as other polishes on the market, and available in over 100 different shades.

Since the company was founded in 2005, they've expanded to not only include nail polishes, but a popular soy nail polish remover ($11.25-$22.50) that is 100% biodegradable in an apothecary-style bottle that is recyclable. There is no acetone in this polish, and it smells sort of zesty because it contains essential lemongrass oils.

Check out other products on their website including a rosemary & mint organic foot spray ($8) and their super-moisturizing organic hand & foot cream ($20).
