The Makeup Show NYC

There is no way for me to cover all my favorite things and all the exciting news from the Makeup Show NYC, but here are a few highlights. (I'll be following up with some stories on individual brands because they are just too amazing for me to condense into one).

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) has been a cult classic since their inception in 2004. These 100% Vegan products are great for sensitive skin and inexpensive. The loose powders can be mixed into a clear nail polish to create your own color, or can be used as eyeshadows or blushes. The Lip Tar (a lipstick/gloss hybrid) is one of their most popular items.

Mai Couture is a new discovery for me. These portable blushing and bronzing papiers come in a chic carrying case so you can just throw them in your bag and go. For $33 you can blot, bronze, and hydrate your skin.

MAKE UP FOR EVER announced their launch of Aqua Creme, a truly waterproof creme that you can use on eyes, lips, cheeks, and body. Dany Sanz (founder of Make Up For Ever and a makeup legend) was on hand at the show.

The team at L'Oreal was giving makeup applications at the show, as well as letting people test Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base, an incredible primer that hides wrinkles, pores, and other imperfections for a perfect makeup application.

Embryolisse is one of those backstage beauty secrets that was previously only available in France, but now that they're stateside I've been taking advantage of their amazingly nourishing skincare products. The Lait-Creme Concentre (also known as the 24-hour miracle cream) can be used as an after-shave, primer, makeup remover, or regular moisturizer for a mere $25.

Stila has mastered the art of one-step makeup. You can use One Step Makeup for a flawless skin finish, or try One Step PrimeColor ($22) for a perfect flush. One Step PrimeColor can be used on eyes, lips, and cheeks.

Jao Goe Oil is an amazing and versatile product made of 100% natural fruit and flower oils. This has a smooth texture and can be applied anywhere on the body or hair. Because of the natural ingredients like coconut, rice bran, meadowfoam, and rose hip oils, this is a great product for those with sensitive skin. This is a great product to tame flyaways, soothe chapped skin, or just use as a regular moisturizer.

Smashbox Cosmetics has its first anti-aging bronzer on the market called Halo. This is a nutrient-rich bronzer that helps reduce the signs of wrinkles after just a few hours of wear. An already well-known brand, they continue to come up with new ideas to make makeup easy to use, as well as good for your skin.

Three Custom Color Specialists is a brand that can make you ANY color eyeshadow, lipstick, or blush that you can dream up. Favorite lipstick discontinued years ago? They probably have it in their database already, or you can send them your nearly empty tube and they will recreate the shade for you. They'll keep it in their database and you'll always be able to buy that color from them. They also have a beautiful ready-to-wear line available for sale.
