New York Fashion Week: Backstage at Alice + Olivia Fall 2013

Bloggers, you've been recognized! Ok, Stacey Bendet's collection was not inspired solely by bloggers, but it was inspired by Street Style and the spirit of individuality. In that spirit, the beauty teams backstage have given us looks that we can interpret at home.

Hair: Antonio Corral Calero for Moroccanoil
Since the inspiration for Bendet's fall collection was about individuality when it comes to style, Antonio thought it was important to do something we could recreate at home. Highly editorial looks are great on a runway, but what can a girl actually wear? A romantic, messy braid like this one can definitely be catered to a woman's individual needs.
Antonio started with Moroccanoil Treatment to condition the hair before styling. Next he used new Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection to shield the hair from the blow dryer (and I can barely wait to get my hands on this new product!). He also applied some Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse before blowing dry to give it some texture. He blew the hair dry with his hands, rather than a bush, so the hair wouldn't be too smooth and fall out of the braid. This look is meant to be Angelic, but also a little bit rocker... Nothing too prim and proper. He created a center part and made wide braids on each side, starting just behind the ears. He criss-crossed the braids over one another around the top of the head and pinned them in place. He let some pieces out on the sides and near the forehead before spraying the hair with Moroccanoil Strong Hairspray, and a little Glimmer Shine Spray.

Makeup: Sarah Lucero for Stila
This look, like most looks Lucero is responsible for, starts with perfect skin where the makeup is almost undetectable. She started by using Stila Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer (the concealer comes in the lid that is attached to the foundation!) to create her perfect canvas. She gave the models and innocent glow on the cheeks using Stila's Convertible Color. The eyes were given a gold foil effect using a gold shade that is not out until Fall 2013, which would be a total bummer except for Sarah was gracious enough to tell us how to recreate this now. She recommended a loose pigment in gold, or Stila's eyeshadow in Oasis applied with a wet brush to really bring out the color.
Next, she used shades from the In The Light eyeshadow palette, using the Ebony shade as a smudged liner just underneath the eye (no liner on top). She finished with a bold pop of color on the lip, courtesy of Stila Stay All Day Lip Vinyl Gloss in Merlot (out in Fall 2013).

Nails: NCLA
You'll have to wait until Fall 2013 to get your hands on these NCLA x Alice + Olivia nail strips. I don't know if I can wait that long for this adorable black and white plaid look!!

Fun moments backstage:

Yes, these shoes are wearing sunglasses and a red lip. Swoon.
