Beautiful skin, minus the airbrush machine

Working as a makeup artist I always get the same questions from potential clients:

Do you use an airbrush machine?
Can you make my skin look like models in the magazines?
Can you work on skin?

Are we noticing a theme here with the questions?  It’s all about SKIN.  A flawless complexion is the base of all makeup looks.  Whether you’re going for a natural look or a total vamp look, it all starts with the skin.  This fall is all about the matte makeup and the vampire lips (dark wine and aubergine lip colors), but how do we translate this look into our everyday lives?  While I don’t always think Ox Blood is the appropriate color for an office setting, you can always get the matte skin finish you desire.  Here are some of my favorite products to try to achieve the airbrushed makeup look in minutes:

The light-diffusing spheres in this formula will make you wonder if you died and woke up as a model instead of your regular Joe-Schmoe self.  That was how I felt anyways.  It gives a demi-matte finish, which means skin will look matte, but not lifeless or like the makeup is caked on.  Skin also feels nourished because the formula contains Vitamin E, Sodium Hyaluronate, anti-wrinkle peptides, fruit derivatives for evening out skin tone, and Japanese Green Tea.  With 18 shades it should be easy to find a color that looks good on you.  Shades that end in a .0 are for gals with golden undertones, whole shades that end in a .5 are for cooler undertones.  (I’m about a shade 5 now, but I was a 6 in the summer).
Urban Decay Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush ($24)
For an even more flawless finish I would def recommend the Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush .  The brush hair is synthetic (no animals harmed here!) and superbly soft, while the handle is made out of recycled materials.  But more than your karma, you’ll enjoy the way you can buff the makeup into a seamless, lineless, perfectly-blended, Picasso-esque masterpiece just by using the brush in a circular motion.

Fans of the cult classic Luminizing Moisture Tint will love this version with all the lightweight, hydrating benefits as the original, but with a matte finish.  The SPF15 formula protects the skin from the sun's rays, but also contains Vitamins A, C, & E to nourish the skin.  Available in five shades (Porcelain, Linen, Nude, Chamomile, and Hazel) this creates envy-worthy skin that will make people wondering if you are wearing makeup or if you're just lucky.

This cream-to-powder finish goes on so smoothly, you would be nervous that skin would look greasy or oily if you didn’t see it transform to a matte finish right before your eyes.  Youngblood products are made with minerals and other hydrating ingredients because their line isn't just about color, but about nourishing the skin.  This particular product has Algae extract and Jojoba in it, among other ingredients, to smooth and calm the skin.  The fragrance-free, oil-free, paraben-free formula makes this good for all types of skin, including sensitive skin, or those with rosacea.

If you’re not a big makeup-wearer, but still want the airbrushed look I would definitely recommend this product.  This is a sheer product that you can wear over your makeup or on clean, moisturized skin to cover the appearance of large pores or fine lines.  This portable product requires just a pea-sized amount to seemingly plump skin up right before your eyes.  I use mine on my T-zone to fake a poreless face, but this is great on fine lines and crow's feet as well.
