How-to:
Witte started by blowing Caillat's hair out with the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i blowdryer, and then straightened the hair with the T3 SinglePass flat iron.
Next, he created a reverse-braid beginning at the nape of Caillat's neck, and continued to the top of the head, where he tied it off with a CyndiBands elastic hair tie.
Once the reverse-braid was tied, Witte gathered the remaining hair and joined it together with the braid at the top of the head, bringing it into a high ponytail using another CyndiBands elastic hair tie.
To finish the look, he secured the ponytail/braid with hair pins, wrapped it into a messy topknot, and finished with a light hair spray.
