Get the look: Zooey Deschanel at the 2013 Emmy Awards

Makeup how-to: 

Douglas prepped Deschanel's skin with CARGO_HD CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 20 to keep her looking natural and glowy.  Next, she used CARGO Blush in Mendocino on the top of the apples of the cheeks and blended out towards the middle of the jawline before sculpting the outer corners of the face with CARGO Water Resistant Bronzer.

Douglas used a pale beige over the entire lid (CARGO Eye Shadow in Windsor) as a base color for the eye look.  Next, she used CARGO Eye Shadow in Pasadena (matte apricot) and CARGO Eye Shadow in Flint (smokey grey) to define Deschanel's eyes.

After finishing the eye shadow, Douglas used CARGO Jet Lag Concealer under the eye area to reduce any dark circles or puffiness that could pop up throughout the night.  

Next, she used CARGO TexasLiner Liquid Eye Liner and CARGO TexasLash Mascara  to the upper and lower lash lines.  She used a little CARGO EyeLighter on the corners of Deschanel's eyes to highlight and brighten those big blues.  

To finish the look, Douglas used CARGO Essential Lip Color in Sedona on Deschanel's lips.

Nails how-to:

Bachik started by applying L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in I Will!  to all Deschanel's nails.  He used a striper nail tool to divide each nail into four quarters by drawing a plus sign. Next, Bachik used L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in After Hours to create the checkerboard pattern on each finger, using the back of a makeup brush to paint on tiny dots as he went.  To complete the look, he used the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in After Hours on Deschanel's thumbs to create a tiny moustache.
