Great cause: Aveda Light The Way candle

Just in time for Earth Month, Aveda has brought back the Light the Way candle ($12).  Aveda donates 100% of the purchase price from Light the Way  Candle to Global Greengrants Fund, a non-profit organization that provides grants to grassroots groups working to solve pressing environmental problems. Aveda and Global Greengrants Fund have worked together for more than six years, focusing since 2007 on funding clean-water projects.
$12 may not seem like much to us... a little lipstick here... a nail polish there.  But $12 goes a long way throughout the world.
What $12 can do:
-In Morocco, $12 supports the purchase of eight meters of piping to transport drinking water
-In India, $12 can provide one year of water conservation, health and hygiene education for a whole family.
-In Chile, $12 supports one day work for an activist fighting construction of a dam that would flood her community.
-In Madagascar, $12 provides a one-year supply of clean drinking water for a person.
These are things that we would take for granted here, but we can make a conscious effort to support companies like Aveda that are making a difference in the world.  Past Light the Way candles have helped Global Greengrants Fund to support over 20,000 women working for clean water in their communities.
This year’s Light the Way Candle carton is decorated with artwork made by students of the Association School in Ampasimanjeva, Madagascar (a village that has received two Global Greengrants Fund grants* for water projects) to show how their lives changed after the community built a safe community water source close to home.
The Light the Way Candles are held in 100% reclaimed glass beverage bottles, and features a new Madagascar-inspired aroma.  The scent is made with 100% certified organic essential oils like vanilla, cinnamon and ylang ylang, which are all sourced from Madagascar.
The candle is available now, while supplies last, at Aveda salons or online.
