New York Fashion Week: The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection 2013

Kelly Osbourne in Z Spoke by Zac Posen,  Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner in Badgley Mischka,  and for the first time in Red Dress history a non-famous woman walked the runway in honor of womens' heart health.
New York Fashion Week kicked off tonight with the only celeb-packed runway show with the sole purpose of improving the heart health of women: The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection.  The Heart Truth brings the Red Dress Collection to life through a partnership between the NHLBI (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute) and the American College of Cardiology.  The show features celebs of various genres: athletes, news anchors, tv personalities, you name it.  And then some of the biggest designers out there dress them in exquisite red dresses, because the Red Dress has become the national symbol of womens' heart health.
The show is always fun and high-energy, but also kind of a tear-jerker when you listen to the stories of how heart health affects so many women in our country.  (Or maybe I just cry at everything).  Every woman that walked the runway tonight has been touched by heart disease in some way, just like your friends, neighbors, family, and other various loved ones.  Heart disease touches us all and as women we need to take charge of our health.  We're so busy taking care of everyone else in our lives, it's time we took care of ourselves so that we can be alive for a long, long time.  There are so many ways to show your support of the cause.  You can wear red, you can donate, you can spread the word, but the most important thing you can do is arm yourself with the knowledge of how to keep your heart healthy!  Visit www.hearttruth.gov for information on women and heart disease.
Gabby Douglas in Pamella Roland, Jillian Michaels in Cushnie Et Ochs, Wendy Williams in Kamali Kulture, Minka Kelly in Oscar De La Renta, Savannah Guthrie in Carolina Herrera, Toni Braxton in Hervé L. Leroux
