New York Fashion Week: Backstage at Kate Spade Fall 2013

This season, Kate Spade’s hometown of good ole New York City served as inspiration for the collection.  The Studio 54-esque collection, full of fun and sparkle, was emphasized perfectly by sleek hair, a bold red lip, and glamorous nails.

Makeup: Neil Scibelli for Jouer
-Neil started with Jouer Matte Moisture Tint for clean, matte skin, and a little Jouer Age-Repairing Concealer where needed.
-Brows were left clean and groomed (kind of refreshing for those who don't want to rock the bold brow).
-On the eyes Neil used Jouer Powder Eyeshadow in Crème as a base, and Jouer Powder Eyeshadow in Amaretto in the crease.
-The eyes were lined with Jouer Liquid Shimmer Liner in Panther, winging out for a dramatic cat eye.
-The eyes were finished with a strip of false lashes on the top, and some Jouer Everyday Classic Wear Mascara.

-For a subtle glow, Jouer Tint in Honeysuckle was used on the apples of cheeks.  This is a cream color that you could use on your cheeks or your lips.
-To finish the look Neil created a dramatic red lip, using Jouer Hydrating Lipstick in Simone, and topped it off with Jouer’s Essential Lip Enhancer for shine.

Nails: Deborah Lippmann
Lippmann created 2 nails for the event, both with a pyramid stud to complement the studs in the collection.  The first look was created with 2 coats of Fade To Black before placing the pyramid stud about 1/8 of an inch above the cuticle.
The second color was a custom color for the show, using Amazing Grace (opaque white) as a base, then one coat of I Kissed A Girl, and then one coat of Between The Sheets.
*Insider tip: to prevent nail glue from ruining the luster of the nail, Lippmann put the nail glue inside the pyramid stud, rather than directly on the nail.  She applied the stud with tweezers first to prevent the glue from leaking all over, and after a couple seconds applied pressure with her fingers.  She finished by painting a topcoat around the pyramid stud, kind of sealing it onto the nail, but did not paint topcoat on top of the stud.
