Illamasqua spring 2013 collection: I'MPERFECTION

"Blessed are the cracked, for they shall let in the light"
Groucho Marx

Illamasqua can always be trusted to come out with new products that test our conventional ideas of what beauty is.  It seems it's in their DNA to come out with colors and textures that you would normally never think to wear on your face or nails.  The creative heads of the company are seemingly always inspired by anything just a little left of center.  But isn't that what's great about them?  That you can always go to them for something new, something different, something that tests your limits.
It's that sort of magical thinking that inspired the spring 2013 collection: I'MPERFECTION.  Most wise people know that the beauty is in the flaws, and Illamasqua is a brand that encourages you to embrace your flaws rather than cover them up.  Forget about beauty brands that tell the masses that being beautiful means being a poreless, lifeless, doll-like creature who can't go out in the rain for fear of messing up her perfectly-applied makeup.  This is a brand that says "Hey, you like green?  Why not try it as a lipstick today?".
I'm constantly feeling inspired by this brand and the products they come out with, but fear not if you're on the more conservative side.  It's still wearable.  It's not about purposely trying to go against the grain because it's the thing to do, it's more about embracing yourself.  Your feelings, your flaws, your assets...and how you can express all of those things with your makeup.  Anyways, I think I've blathered on enough about my thoughts on the brand.  Let's look at the actual product.
New Blush Up Brush ($40)
Lipstick in Immodest ($24)

From left to right: Nail Varnish in Speckle, Scarce, Freckle, Fragile, and Mottle ($16 each).
