Backstage at The Blonds Spring 2013

Fact: Even Barbie loves Moroccanoil

Anybody who has ever been to a show put on by The Blonds knows that it's always pure entertainment.  This year's theme was some sort of psychedelic Barbarella beach party, and as usual, it was pretty awesome.  The super tall blonde wigs were epic, the makeup was beautiful, and I can honestly say that the nails were the coolest I'd seen all of Fashion Week.

Hair:

Antonio Corral Calero, Moroccanoil Artistic Director, created a beach bunny look unlike anything else I saw this Fashion Week.
Each model’s hair was hidden under latex hoods that had Barbie-like synthetic hair coming out from the caps.  Antonio started by steaming the synthetic hair pieces straight, then using Moroccanoil Treatment to soften up the texture of the hair.  Next he placed the models’ hair into the latex hood and attached the hair pieces, backcombing at the crown for height.  He used a curling iron to create waves and volume from midway down the hair to the ends and sprayed the entire look with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium.  He finished the look with a light mist of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray so the hair would shimmer in the lights as the models walked, playing off the sparkly headpieces and garments.

Makeup:
The makeup was the most subtle of all the beauty looks, but still had to have a strong presence to sit underneath the giant blonde hair and the exotic nail art.  Kabuki used MAC cosmetics products to give smooth, clean skin, sculpted cheekbones, and strong, sultry eyes.

Nails:
The folks at CND came up with several different types of nails for the psychedelic beach party theme.  Coral-inspired nails.  Nails that were inspired by the sunset at the beach.  Some that were inspired by freshwater pearls.  But, of course, my faves were the shark fin nails.
Yes, these are shark fin nails.  I almost passed out when I saw them.  I need these.
