NY Fashion Week: Backstage at Whitney Eve AW2012

Makeup:
Makeup artist Kristi Matamoros used MAKE UP FOR EVER products to give skin a monochromatic finish, with a strong brow and a pop of bright orange-red on the lips.  Kristi started with HD Invisible Cover Foundation (and Invisible Cover Concealer if necessary).  The cheeks were contoured with MAKE UP FOR EVER Eyeshadow in #127 (a taupe shimmer), which was later used all over the eyes as the start to the taupe smokey eye she created.  The tops of the cheekbones were highlighted with Shine On Powder #3 (a tan shimmer), which was also used on the inner corners of the eyes to brighten tired eyes.  The whole face was set with HD Powder to create a semi-matte look.
Next Kristi started on the eyes with the Eyeshadow in #127 all over the lid, and on the bottom lash line.  The lash line was intensified with Eye Shadow #165 (a darker taupe) before the Shine On Powder in #3 was applied to the inner corners of the eyes.  The eyes were finished with Smoky Lash Mascara and eyebrows were strengthened with MAKE UP FOR EVER Eyebrow Pencils.
The star of the look was definitely the bright lip, which was created with Rouge Artiste Intense Lip Color in #40 (orange) and buffed out with Eye Shadow in #18 (tangerine) for a matte look.

Hair:
Martin-Christopher Harper (Cutler) was working with texture backstage, and using funky hair ornaments from Whitney's line to hold the 'do in place.  The texture was created by blowing hair out with Redken Full Frame Mousse and Guts Volume Spray Foam and a large round brush.  After the volume was achieved with the blowout, hair was matted out with Redken Wool Shake 08, and then curled with a 1.3" curling iron.  Hair was then secured into a ponytail with a decorative hair piece, and, leaving some hair straight at the roots, the ends of the hair were weaved (in a rick-rack shape) into bobby pins to create the zig-zag shaped curl.  While the hair was setting in bobby pins, the straight roots were emphasized with Cutler Fly-Away Control Stick.  The pins were removed, then hair was brushed out to create even more volume and texture, and finished with Redken Forceful 23.

Nails:
Zoya nail artists were coating the nails with 1 coat of Kristen (creamy blue/grey shade) and 2 coats of Maisie (blue holographic flecks).

Crest 3D White products were used backstage to get the models ready to shine.  Whitney had Crest 3D White Glamorous White toothpaste backstage to brighten smiles, as well as 3D White Intensive Professional Effects Whitestripes for max whiteness in a short period of time.
