NY Fashion Week: Backstage at Emerson AW2012

The look backstage at Emerson was like a gothy version of Veronica Lake.  She was a mixture of 20's pin-up girl and a modern-day New York City woman.
Hair:
The Red Door Spas team started by slathering the hair in Kerastase Volumactive Mousse before curling with a 1" barrel curling iron and setting the whole head in pin curls.  The hair was allowed to set/cool while the girls were getting their makeup done.  When the hair is let out of the pins, it's brushed out and given a little Kerastase Elixir Ultime for shine.  The front section is then fashioned into finger waves and set with hairspray.

Makeup:
Andrea Helgadottir (for Illamasqua) gave the models a totally bad-ass, yet surprisingly femme makeup look.  It was a deep, dark purple look, that made all the models want to bat their lashes at me when I was taking photos, and a great mixture of makeup textures.  There was definitely a contrast between the matte and the shiny textures on the eyes and lips.  Andrea gave the models clean skin with a little Powder Blusher in Ambition on the cheeks.  Lips were finished with deep bluish-purple lipstick from Illamasqua called Kontrol.  On the eyes Andrea used Powder Eyeshadow in CanCan all over the lids, and then in Forgiveness in the crease.  She finished the eyes with Precision Ink Eyeliner in Abyss, which gives a great shiny finish that doesn't budge.

Nails:
The Red Door Spas team used Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Velocity on the entire nail, and then painted a tiny half-moon shape on the bottom of the nail with DWS.
