Getting ready for New York Fashion Week with Maybelline

As Fashion Week quickly approaches, and I’m balancing backstage beauty coverage with the fashionable front-of-house, I can’t help but wonder about all the amazing beauty trends we’re going to see for Spring 2012. Being a color-junkie, Spring is a favorite season of mine in general, but I go absolutely crazy over all the makeup trends.

And I always wonder what Maybelline is getting into since they are the official makeup sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Even their best-selling Great Lash Mascara has fashion roots. The iconic pink and green bottle was inspired by Lilly Pulitzer back in 1971. You math wizzes out there have probably realized that this means the 40th anniversary of Great Lash is on the horizon. In honor of the anniversary they’ve recently partnered with designers Max Azria, Tracy Reese, and Vivienne Tam, whole each created their own new takes on the pink & green bottle (pictured above). Max Azria’s bottle is lacey, Tracy Reese’s is floral-y and feminine, and Vivienne Tam’s bottle has the Chinese symbol for “lash”. These limited edition tubes are available exclusively at Target, starting this month ($6.99 each). Just in time for Fashion Week!

Given that Spring is big on color, I have to wonder if we’ll see Maybelline’s new Color Explosion Luminizing Eyeshadow ($10.99 each) backstage at any shows. These newest editions to the Eye Studio collection each contain 4 highly pigmented shadows with 1 luminizing topcoat to give you multi-dimensional and impactful color. The 5 color palettes are:

Caffeine Rush

Amethyst Ablazed

Forest Fury

Blue Blowout

Pink Punch
