Benz on a budger: Met Gala beauties

Maybe you can't justify spending money on a designer gown if you're not attending a Met Gala, but there are some inexpensive beauty tricks that you can borrow from the celebs that attended Savage Beauty; the exhibit honoring Alexander McQueen.
You might not be able to rock bright pink Derek Lam like Michelle Monaghan, but you can certainly take a cue from her stylist, Mary Alice Stephenson, who suggested Monaghan wear Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Pat On The Black on her nails. For $7.99 you can add some edge to any bubble gum look. Plus this particular polish is a 5-in-1 formula that gives you a base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, color, and top coat all in one bottle.

Michelle Williams wore a Miu Miu gown with golden bird appliques, but you can take a cue from stylist Peter Grey for Moroccanoil, who used Moroccanoil Light hair treatment to draw attention to Michelle's golden pixie hair cut. The Moroccanoil Light formula is great for blondies like Michelle because it accentuates highlights, but doesn't weigh down fine hair.

If you want to recreate a dressier 'do at home, try a chignon like Alicia Keys. (I should note here that I've been OBSESSED with Ms. Keys since the moment I heard her voice. "Girl crush" doesn't even begin to cover it.) Her hair stylist, Miok, blew her hair out straight with René Furterer Straightening Gel for a smooth canvas. After twisting her hair in to a massive chignon, Miok sprayed the sides of the hair with René Furterer Glossing Spray, and then finished the entire style off with René Furterer Finishing Spray for non-sticky hold throughout the night.

The celebs may come armed with stylists and makeup artists, but at least we can take home some of their fabulous products and recreate the looks at home!
